Deauville and Movies
The American Movie Festival of Deauville is specially dedicated to cinema across the the Atlantic. It has been already for more than 40 years that the event is held every year, during 10 days, in September in Normandy. Let's go back to the history of one of the most prestigious festivals in the world.
The American Movie Festival owes its fame, above everything else, to the independent American movie, but not only that ... Without the artistic manifestations of the city of Deauville and its great beauty offering a perfect setting for the realization of a shoot, would never have been born.
In only a few months of creation, the Movie Festival has increased its visibility with the support of some Hollywood celebrities who do not hesitate to move to Deauville. Very quickly, a tourist place will become a mythical place over time: "the Floorboards of Deauville". Many stars, filmmakers and directors have imbued their signatures and their names on this magnificent promenade that runs along the sea and which is the pride of the Norman city.
It was in 1995 that the Movie Festival organized the first competition and offered hospitality to a jury in order to discover new talents. The aim of this new concept of the past was to put a big exclamation point on the ancient Movie. Tributes and flashback are shared during the celebration, specially dedicated to the great legends of the wide screen (Al Pacino, Elizabeth Taylor, Marion Brando, Orson Welles, etc.).
Renowned for its strong cinematic diversity since its very first edition, the American Movie Festival in Deauville receives both independent and large Hollywood productions. Already 40 years since the event was born. Today, it has become an important institution with universal fame, which is heading straight for a bright future.
